Serenity is the state of being calm or at peace. Sirenity is the state of being calm or at peace - like the Manatee. Billy Whitefox is a Southeastern Muskogee Creek Indian that plays Native American Flute music on self-made, traditional Rivercane Flutes. He is also a storyteller of Creek Folktales that educate and bring awareness to his heritage, the environment and to wildlife conservation. Billy’s love of the natural world and for his home State of Florida inspired him to pay tribute to the Florida Manatee; one of Florida’s endangered species. Billy hopes his music and stories will encouraged others in the efforts to help save the manatee.

Synopsis:

Old Style RIVERCANE FLUTEMAKING

Billy Whitefox is a Southeastern Muskogee Creek Indian and a National Champion, Native American Flutemaker. He handcrafts old-style rivercane flutes and shares this process to others by educating them on how to harvest the rivercane, allowing it to season and cure, cut it into correct lengths, correctly place the sound and finger holes, align the bird correctly, firing and sanding the stalk, the final coating and decorating tips using Native American symbols and icons. Billy discusses his Creek heritage while using primitive tools and equipment to make his one-of-a-kind flutes. He also makes the viewer aware of the importance of being environmentally conscious of harvesting and replanting wild rivercane for future generations to have and enjoy. After completing his flute, Billy breathes his spirit into the flute and plays his song he calls, The Spirit of the Rivercane.
